The Primary House, Inc. is a local, family owned and operated company. Shares are divided equally between Dana Monin and her mother, Patricia Lee, both of whom are officers in the corporation and have lived in Kentucky all their lives and in Elizabethtown for more than fifteen years. The company is actually operated by Dana Monin, President. Desha Lee, sister to Dana and daughter of Patricia joined the family business in 2004 and now operates Radcliff Primary House. All of our own children attended the centers from birth.
The Primary House was formed in late 1992. Our first center, Primary House I was opened in May, 1993 on Dixie Highway in Radcliff. Initially, it was a small center with a capacity of less than fifty children. Within months of the opening, we doubled the size of the center. The second center, The Primary House II, opened in 1995 on Lincoln Trail Blvd. in Radcliff. In 1996, we incorporated the company , becoming The Primary House, Inc., and we opened the third center , The Primary House III on Westport Road in Elizabethtown. The fourth center, The Primary House IV, opened in 1999 on Diecks Drive in Elizabethtown . All four of our centers were pilot centers for the Kentucky Stars for Kids Quality Rating System in 1999.
Our two Radcliff centers were consolidated in June, 2003 into the Lincoln Trail location, becoming Radcliff Primary House. Our two Elizabethtown centers were consolidated in May, 2004 into the Westport Road location becoming Elizabethtown Primary House The consolidation of the Elizabethtown centers took place after the construction of a new, eight thousand square foot building beside the original Westport Road building. The center on Westport Road, Elizabethtown Primary House, became the largest center in nine counties after the addition of the second building in 2004. Our goal is to remain on the cutting edge of child care and to work towards constantly improving our programs and contributing to the advancement of our profession as a whole.
Currently, both the Radcliff Primary House and the Elizabethtown Primary House are participating programs in Kentucky Stars for Kids Now Initiative. We care for more than 450 children and employ nearly 100 staff members.
