We have an open door policy for parents. Parents are welcome in the center at any time. Once we recognize you as a parent, you are encouraged to go directly to your child’s classroom to drop off and pick up. Parents are also welcome to drop in and check on their children in the classrooms, or through the windows, or on the monitors in the office. Parents who wish to visit with their children will be asked to take them out of the classroom for the visit in order to avoid disrupting the other children, the staff, or the program as a whole. Conferences should take place when the staff member is not caring for children as staff are to pay full attention to children. If you need to talk to your child’s teacher, simple ask the charge person to find a relief person for the teacher’s classroom.
In addition to our open door policy, off-hour phone numbers for directors, daily sheets for children two and younger, parental copies of all Incident/Accident/Illness (IAI) reports, parental copies of Medication Permission slips, the website, and the HOTLINE, we also publish a monthly newsletter , provide a suggestion box at the front of each center, and are in the process of establishing a Parental Advisory Committee at each center. In addition, each child in the preschool is evaluated for progress three times annually. Those evaluations can be inspected by parents upon request.
